The only reason given for this new road is to, "be prepared" for an onslaught of growth. Will a loop around the city really help? If congestion is an issue, why don't they expand and improve roads like 46, 725, and 306 that ALREADY EXIST rather than carve up more land for an un-needed road? Make better railroad crossings, graded intersections, and do better access management on the roads that already exist! These are improvements that TX DOT has difficulty with. Secondly, New Braunfels already has a loop> Loop 337! There is no good reason to add another loop on the west side of Interstate 35!

Finally, someone who is asking why no improvements to existing roads! Has anyone noticed a lot of building activity on the east side of IH35, but limited access to that side of town? Shouldin't the first priority be updating existing roadways, smoothing out traffic flow, additional stoplights/signs where needed?
I do not understand the reasoning for a new loop. None has been given except to justify future growth. The interstate through New Braunfels is not congested and just lately some of the exterior roads around New Braunfels has shown some traffic conjestion. This can be resolved by widening these roads (aka 46 and 306) and extend 306 to connect to 46 East). Expecting an outer loop will entice more landowners (near the proposed loop) to sell their property which would generate the growth that may not happen if the loop never existed. Basically the loop will create the growth.
Add another dubious feather in TX Dot's hat... They are now likely rigging their traffic count data to address their lack of data and justification for this stupid road. On Monday April 21, the 1102/Hunter Road corridor was lined with traffic counters, but this morning (Tuesday April 22) the only remaining counter was where the loop is supposed to cut through. This means they needed to add counts to this segment so they left it out longer to get the data they need. This is awful data collection and I can only hope that Greg Maladick and his mousy assistant are FIRED!
